Public Works and Government Services Canada has been assigned the lead for the project on behalf of the Government of Canada (GoC) as administrator of up to $280 million in respect to the Project. In keeping with this role, PWGSC has the overall GoC responsibility for project governance, the implementation of financial and environmental controls, risk management initiatives and Project quality assurance on behalf of GoC. In this regard, PWGSC will also be tasked to ensure that the Agency, in accordance with a signed Memorandum of Agreement, carries out resulting environmental requirements.
During the project implementation phase, the following GoC departments will provide expert and specialist information or knowledge when required:
- Environment Canada
- Health Canada
- Natural Resources Canada
- Fisheries and Ocean Canada
